What BatteryMate expects from the suppliers who make and deliver our products
BatteryMate sells replacement batteries, chargers, remotes and electronic accessories to customers across Australia and New Zealand. Our reputation depends on the people and factories behind those products. This Code sets out the minimum standards we expect from every supplier, manufacturer, agent and logistics partner we work with, and from their sub-suppliers. Suppliers are expected to meet these standards as a condition of doing business with BatteryMate; where local law is stricter, local law applies.
1. Labour and human rights
Suppliers must respect the rights of every worker involved in making or delivering our products.
- No forced, bonded, prison, trafficked or child labour, anywhere in the supply chain.
- Workers are free to leave their job with reasonable notice, keep their own identity documents and never pay recruitment fees.
- Wages meet or exceed the legal minimum, are paid on time, and working hours comply with local law.
- No discrimination, harassment, abuse or threats, and workers may join or form a union where the law allows.
2. Health and safety
Suppliers must provide a safe, clean workplace.
- Fire exits, extinguishers, lighting and ventilation that meet local codes, with regular emergency drills.
- Safe handling and storage of lithium cells, chemicals and other hazardous materials, with protective equipment supplied free of charge.
- Any dormitories or meals provided are safe, clean and voluntary.
3. Environment
Suppliers must comply with environmental laws and work to reduce their impact.
- Hold all required environmental permits and manage waste, wastewater and emissions responsibly.
- Dispose of or recycle batteries and electronic waste through licensed channels.
- Meet restricted-substance rules (such as RoHS and REACH) for products supplied to BatteryMate.
4. Business integrity
Suppliers must deal with BatteryMate honestly.
- No bribes, kickbacks, gifts or favours offered to BatteryMate staff or to officials on our behalf.
- Accurate records, invoices, certificates and shipping documents at all times.
- Keep BatteryMate pricing, designs, artwork and customer information confidential and do not infringe third-party intellectual property.
5. Product quality and compliance
Products supplied to BatteryMate must be safe and fit for purpose.
- Batteries and chargers meet the applicable safety and transport standards for the Australian and New Zealand markets, including UN 38.3 for lithium cells and relevant IEC or AS/NZS electrical standards, with test reports available on request.
- Products match the agreed specification, capacity and labelling, and any change in cells, components or factory is notified to BatteryMate before shipment.
- Packaging and markings comply with dangerous-goods rules for sea and air freight.
6. Transparency and verification
Suppliers must be open with us about where and how products are made.
- Disclose the actual manufacturing site and significant sub-suppliers when asked.
- Share social, safety and quality audit reports (for example BSCI, SMETA or ISO certificates) and allow reasonable site visits or third-party audits.
- Fix any issues found within an agreed time and tell us about them without waiting to be asked.
7. Raising concerns and consequences
Anyone, including a supplier’s own workers, can report a suspected breach of this Code to BatteryMate at vishal@batterymate.com.au. Reports are treated confidentially and no one will be penalised for raising a genuine concern. Where a supplier does not meet this Code and does not correct the problem, BatteryMate may hold orders, cancel purchase agreements or end the relationship.
