How to Program a Dominator DOM501 / DOM502 / DOM505 or B&D TX315 / MPC3 Compatible Remote

Program a compatible Dominator DOM501 / DOM502 / DOM505 or B&D TX315 / MPC3 / MPC4 remote: hold the blue Door Code button on the motor, press the remote twice for two seconds each, release and test.

  • A pin (only if pairing to a gate through an original remote)
Before you start Make sure nobody is standing under or near the door while you program and test. Do this within a few metres of the motor so you can test straight away. Keep the remote and its battery away from children; if a coin or button cell is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.

Dominator and matching B&D Control-A-Door openers learn a new remote through the blue Door Code button on the motor, or SW1/SW2 on a stand-alone receiver. Hold the button, press the remote twice for two seconds each, release and test.

Compatible replacement remotes for the Dominator DOM501, DOM502, DOM505, DOM503, DOM401, YBS2 and YBS4 handsets, and the B&D TX315, MPC3 and MPC4 handsets used with Control-A-Door openers.

Before you start

Locate the blue Door Code button on the motor. On some models it sits under a plastic cover. For a gate where the receiver is out of reach, see the FAQ for pairing through your original remote.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Uncover the motor buttons

    Some ATA motors have a plastic cover over the buttons. Remove it so you can reach the blue Door Code button (SW1 or SW2 on a separate receiver board).

  2. Hold the Door Code button

    Press and hold the blue Door Code button on the motor. Keep it held down until step 5.

  3. Press the new remote for 2 seconds

    Press the button on the new remote that you want to operate the door and hold it for 2 seconds, then release it for 2 seconds.

  4. Press the same button again

    Press the same remote button again for 2 seconds. This second press confirms the code.

  5. Release the Door Code button

    Let go of the Door Code (or SW) button on the motor.

  6. Test the door

    Press the programmed button on the new remote. The door should operate. Repeat for any other remotes.

Frequently asked questions

I do not have my original remote. Can I still program this one?
Yes. This remote pairs directly with the Dominator or B&D motor or receiver using the learn button, so an original remote is not required.
How do I delete all remotes from the motor?
Turn the power off at the socket. Press and hold the Door Code (SW1) button, turn the power back on while still holding it, and wait for the Door Code LED to light, which shows the memory is cleared. Release the button and confirm the old remotes no longer work.
Can I program this remote to a gate using my original remote?
Yes. Stand 1 to 2 metres from the gate control board and open the gate with the original remote. As the gate starts to move, push a pin into the small coding hole in the centre of the original remote until its LED lights for at least 2 seconds. Remove the pin, then on the new remote hold the chosen button for 2 seconds, release for 2 seconds, and hold it again for 2 seconds. Wait 10 to 15 seconds and test.
Can I delete just one lost remote?
No. The motor erases all remotes at once, so after clearing the memory you will need to re-program every remote you still use.
Does the remote come with a battery?
Yes, a battery is pre-installed. If the LED on the remote does not light when you press a button, replace the battery before troubleshooting the programming.
