What's the difference between lithium and lithium-ion (li-ion) batteries
Lithium batteries, also known as primary cell batteries, hold plenty of power and tend to last longer than other types of batteries. However, lithium batteries cannot be recharged – when they’re out of power, they’re finished. The disposable batteries you use around your home in toys and remotes are an example of lithium batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries — also called li-ion batteries or secondary cell batteries — can be recharged. Unlike other batteries of the past, there’s no need to fully discharge a lithium-ion battery before recharging it.
